Types of innovation by direction

In the major part of organizations, innovation is usually organized in a top -down or in a bottom-up direction.

A typical top-down innovation is when the management decides - for example - on the development of a new product or service.

A typical bottom-up innovation is the Kaizen method. Kaizen means the improvement of our personal life, our home, social environment or workplace. The Kaizen method in the workplace means the involvement of each employee in the improvement processes, including the management as well as the lower level of employees.
